IB’s Watson Mini tries its best to live up to its “Mini” suffix but only as far as its size and form factor is concerned. On the performance front, is actually maximizes everything. This IB Mini Watson is an FBI certified scanner that conforms to the Appendix F and Mobile ID (FAP 45) image quality specifications. It can perform both flat and rolled scans and can work as a cost effective solution for 10-print enrollment applications.

Equipped with Integrated Biometrics’ patented LES (Light Emitting Sensor)technology, Watson Mini easily outshines the competition. It can even outperform more expensive dual-finger optical scanners, which uses prism based Total Internal Reflection (TIR) for fingerprint image capture. LES offers some unparalleled advantages such as hardware based liveness detection and immunity against latent and left behind prints. No wonder IB Mini Watson can take up your high volume applications with back to back scans without breaking a sweat.
IB Mini Watson is SWFT+ compatible, which means that you can submit Department of Defense (DoD) employment background check application using this device. It encrypts communications between the scanner and external devices or applications to protect biometric data at the point of acquisition.
LES film based FBI certified sensor
Integrated Biometrics Watson Mini fingerprint scanner is manufactured keeping FBI’s Appendix F and FBI Mobile ID (FAP 45) image quality specification requirements in mind. Appendix F maintains the most stringent set of image quality specifications for FBI applications and meeting these requirements needs manufacturing expertise.
While the most manufacturers rely on optical sensing technology to meet FBI image quality specifications, Integrated Biometrics is the only company that uses its patented LES film based sensor technology to achieve these image quality requirements. It takes IB’s Mini Watson miles ahead of competition when it comes to the image acquisition technology.
Industry leading liveness detection
Most manufacturers leverage an anti-spoofing or liveness detection method that works either side-by-side or after the image acquisition to detect any circumvention attempt. Different software and hardware based techniques have been developed to achieve liveness detection.
LES film based sensing technology takes an entirely different approach towards liveness detection to fail any spoofing attacks. Liveness detection is inherent to the way LES film technology works. LES film contains luminescent phosphor microparticles dispersed across the film. These microparticles glow when the electric circuit is completed beneath the layers. Human body is conductive to the electricity and placing the finger on the LES film sensor completes this low level electric circuit to luminesce the phosphor microparticles, which illuminates the ridge structure.
LES film will not respond to any spoof or replica as it requires human skin with liveness features to luminesce the phosphor microparticles and start the scanning process.
No more left over prints
Latent prints are omnipresent. Owing to the natural oil extracted by the skin surface, impression of your fingerprints is left on almost all surface types you touch, and fingerprint sensor surface is not an exception. Latent and leftover prints, however, become a problem if they are present on an optical fingerprint sensor.
Fingerprint image acquisition in optical fingerprint scanners is based on Total Internal Reflection using a prism. When you place your finger on the sensor surface, light from an internal light source goes through the prism and reflects from the surface your finger is placed on. This returning light collects your fingerprint information, but unfortunately, it also collects leftover prints that may be present on the sensor surface. This unnecessary noise can confuse the system and impact its performance.
Latent prints are inevitable. In case of an optical scanner, the only solution is to clean it after each scan. However, latent prints are not a problem with Integrated Biometrics’ Watson Mini fingerprint scanner as it uses LES film sensor.
LES film sensor illuminates only the portion of skin (i.e. friction ridges) that comes in its contact. This highly localized illumination enables the system to capture a precise image of your fingerprint, which stays unaffected by latent prints.
Durable and efficient
Integrated Biometrics Watson Mini fingerprint scanner is also extremely efficient. It consumes extremely low power (Full scanning < 300mA, standby <40 mA), making it one the most power efficient fingerprint scanners around.
It meets or exceeds MIL-C-675c 4.5010 and MIL-STD-810F US military durability specifications, which proves its ruggedness.
IB Mini Watson is a highly durable fingerprint scanner and can withstand extreme environments and usage scenarios. It can perform in extremely cold and hot temperatures (-10°C ~ +55°C / 14°F ~ 131°F) and direct sunlight. Its sealed construction is rated IP65 for ingress protection, which means that it can withstand accidental liquid spills and dusty environment without compromising on performance.

Perfect FBI Certified Scanner for You
IB Mini Watson is FBI Appendix F certified scanner, which means it can be used for Secure FBI as well as Web Fingerprint Transmission Plus (SWFT+) applications. It produces highly accurate fingerprint scans at 500ppi.
Watson Mini’s sensor is powered by Integrated Biometrics’ patented LES film technology, which ensures high quality and detailed fingerprint images every single time. LES film technology allows Watson Mini to capture fingerprints from dry, wet and even dirty fingers without compromising on image quality.
Its temper proof hardware leverages a unique calibration file installed in each serialized unit, rendering it unusable if tempered. Safeguarded against physical as well as logical abuse, Watson Mini becomes a natural choice for applications with high level of data security requirements.
Integrated Biometrics Watson Mini comes in a nicely designed sealed construction that fits easily for any standalone application. In addition, it does away with the requirement of repeated cleaning between finger rolls by doing away with a traditional glass prism.
Security is the core element of this Mini Watson. It leverages 256 AES encryption to communicate with external applications and devices, making the personal data secure at the point of acquisition, during data transfer and into the host application.
