If judged by sheer looks, BioMini Combo would look nothing more than an average fingerprint scanner; however, this perception quickly changes when you pay attention to details.

BioMini Combo is more than an ordinary fingerprint scanner, it is a two-factor authentication solution, designed for security focused applications and use cases. Other than being a FBI PIV and Mobile ID FAP20 Certified fingerprint scanner, it is a contact/contactless/dual smart cards reader and an RF card scanner.

The SAM slot for adding the contact or contactless or both types of smart card reader functionality is optional, so you can choose from contact, contactless or both contact + contactless card reading functionality when you buy this scanner. For contact smartcards, this Suprema fingerprint scanner is compliant with ISO 7816 and EMV 2000 version 4.1 and offers the transmission rate ranging from 2 Kbps to 500 kbps. It supports 5V (55mA), 3V (50mA), 1.8V (20mA) smartcard.

BioMini Combo also offers a wide range of compatibility for contactless smartcards. It is supports ISO/IEC 14443 A&B Mifare, Felicea, NFC, EMV2000 standards. It works on 13.56MHz +/- 7 KHz frequency and can read contactless smartcards from a distance of up to 10 centimeters.

Card reading functionality, however, has not hindered Suprema to include its innovative digital fingerprinting technologies in the BioMini Combo.

Bio Mini Combo’s fingerprint recognition functionality makes use of Suprema’s Live Finger Detection (LFD) Technology, which is a liveness detection mechanism powered with modern Machine Learning technology. It means that the liveness detection mechanism keeps getting better and securer with the usage. Advanced Live Finger Detection technology analyzes and categorizes image patterns according to the optical characteristics.

Suprema offers a highly efficient and easy to use SDK (Software Development Kit) for BioMini Combo that helps you through the process of integration with custom applications. The device as well as the SDK support both Windows and Linux platforms along with the support for several programming languages such as VC++, VB, C#, VB.NET, Java. The SDK is designed to harness the processing power of a multi-core CPUs, which are a commonplace these days. For example, with Intel Core 2 Duo CPU, it can reach the speed of up to 100,000 matches per second.

FBI CERTIFIED

BioMini Combo is a FBI PIV certified two-factor authentication scanner with machine learning-based Live Finger Detection, its platen size measures 0.71” x 1.0” (18mm x 25.4mm) wide, which even exceeds the FAP20 standard requirement, which is 0.6” x 0.8”.

ACCURATE

Multi Dynamic Range (MDR) Technology is Suprema’s another proprietary tech that enables fingerprint scanners capture images with unhampered quality. Strong ambient light can interfere with the internal lighting of the scanner and easily deteriorate fingerprint image quality. But with MDR Technology, BioMini Combo can work even in harshest ambient light as bright as 100,000 Lux, which is no less than the direct sunlight.
